Kavitha is one Pixafy’s latest additions, building upon our QA practices to add a dedicated resource focused on that area. Her years of experience in the role give her a foundation that will serve her well. Here’s what she said during a recent interview:
Q: How did you discover Pixafy?
I was introduced to Pixafy by recruiter Samantha Epstein from Workbridge Associates.
Q: Where are you originally from? Do you still have family there? Do you have any siblings? If so, what do they do? Any significant/insignificant others? Children? Pets?
I am from the southern part of India, Bangalore. I still have my family over there, my parents and an elder brother. My parents are enjoying retired life and mybrother works for a UK company Tesco as a Sr Network Engineer. My husband and I live here.
Q: Where did you go to school, and what did you study?
I did my undergrad in India and then worked as QA Analyst for 5 years. I went back to school to get my Masters. I took a full time Software Engineering program at the Stevens Institute of Engineering in Hoboken, N.J., and now I’m at Pixafy.
Q: Any mentors/other people who’ve been particularly instrumental in your direction to date?
I would say my parents and also one of my managers at a past company, I had a wonderful time working with her. She directed me every time there was a need.
Q: What is your first impression of Pixafy?
I saw an energetic environment with young crowd busy at their desks. I am excited to be part of the team.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish at Pixafy?
I want to perform my best, gain good knowledge to enhance my career and grow along with company.
Q: Hobbies/interests outside of work?
I enjoy traveling, especially the countryside, reading novels and playing badminton.
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to soft music most of the time.
Q: Qualities you most admire in others (non-Pixafy employees)?
Being humble and unselfish.
Q: Any pet peeves?
Honking in traffic when there is still a red signal. I get angry when people stretch their legs on the chair in front of them at the movie theater.
Q: What’s your favorite part about the QA process?
I like exploring new things and talk to different people every day. That’s how I ended up being a Quality Analyst. Being a QA person I will have to talk to developers, designers, business analysts, and so on. I feel it’s a very challenging job and often needs good communication and thinking skills to convince the role.
Q: Any unusual hobbies that we should know about?
I once tried skydiving and loved it. I have done it from 19k ft but want to dive again from the highest altitude.
Q: If you won the proverbial lottery, what would you do with your windfall?
Probably I would save some for the retirement and I would like to do some charity work as well.
Q: What’s something that no one at Pixafy knows about you (until now)?
I like watching movies and I can understand and speak more than 5 languages.
