As part of the photoshoot we completed earlier this year, we decided to herald our New York location by bringing the staff to Grand Central Terminal to take pictures. It was a fun process, with photographer Megan McGory capturing everyone individually and in groups, as well as a few portrait-style shots of some of the team, such as president Uri Foox. It was a fun way to break up the shoot and bring a bit of New York into the company photos!
We’ve put up a Facebook album featuring a few of the shots, and we’ve updated photos here and there (including a couple of the other Grand Central shots on previous blog posts); look for an updated staff page, coming soon, which will feature the photos we took during the shoot!

The Pixafy staff as of October 2012.
When Pixafy was first launching its rebranded website in April of 2011, our friends at Red Antler (who were designing the site) came in and photographed the team, all nine of us at that time, to illustrate the site and showcase our staff. A bit’s changed since then: Uri no longer wears glasses, we’ve moved to a new office, and our staff is now nearly 25. The time was ripe to rephotograph the team. (more…)

At Pixafy, our focus on people doesn’t stop with customers; it extends to our employees. As such, from time to time we take a company retreat to encourage team building and relationships within the company. On Wednesday August 29th, we took one such trip, a group trip to go see the Yankees take on the Blue Jays. The Yankees weren’t victorious but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the game and what it had to offer.
With an awesome food spread and great seats, we enjoyed the Audi Yankees Club and each others’ company. Ranging from pancakes to sushi, we couldn’t have asked for a better buffet filled with delicious food to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. We were even amazed to see how awesome the bathrooms were!
We certainly hit a home run with this company outing; Check out our Facebook album filled of pictures from our trip!

I remember the late 90’s as an era of both pop and if you lived in my neighborhood, reggae. It was an age where the closest thing to anime on American Television was Sailor Moon, and N64 was still new. Not every household had a computer, and AOL was the best thing since sliced bread. (more…)

“So now that you’ve graduated, what are your plans?” This is the question that we all get post-graduation, and the one that many of us don’t know how to answer. When it boils down to it, we are all clueless on what our future holds.
In today’s job market, college students are having trouble finding jobs; therefore, we are all turning to internships. Normally it’s ideal to take an internship while in school, but unfortunately interning post-graduation is more likely to happen than getting a big-girl job, as I call it, and most of them are unpaid. Pixafy’s latest software engineer hire is Tariq Chaudhry. His diverse background gives him a unique take on software engineering and we’re excited to have him on board! Here’s a bit more about him: (more…)
When Maria Sharapova decided to branch out, she literally put her money where her mouth is, and it’s causing quite a racket.
Today, as Maria’s tech partner, we launched Sugarpova, working in tandem with our good friends at Red Antler for a timed launch to build and maximize the buzz around her innovative line of premium gummy candies.
Sugarpova promises to bring a fun and playful side to how we look at sweets, and the site fulfills on that promise. With Magento and WordPress as the building blocks, Pixafy prepped Sugarpova at a breakneck pace to meet the launch.
It’s an ace for Maria, and the net result is a delicious product you will love. Check out the live Sugarpova site, and while you’re there, be sure to order some tasty sweets!

Time goes by and Adobe Photoshop remains one of the most important tools in the web design world. Some argue that Fireworks should take care of the job; others say it cannot be done without some pain. One way or another, as a front-end developer, chances are you spend some time dealing with PSD files, perhaps more time than you would like. (more…)
