
Creating Pages and Page templates can make all the difference in keeping things manageable for both you and the user. Pages are also really simple to apply templates to so that every Page can have its own unique flair. The Category Template applies to the overall loop of your posts. And if you want posts within a certain category to display a different structure and style, then using a Category Template is the way to go. Now, when you click into each post, into it’s single post state, also known as permalink, if this is the only place you will need to style your single post, then going straight to loop-single.php and style there. One of my favorite phrases to our team is that there’s always many solutions to a problem, but the key is to find the elegant solution – that one solution that goes a step farther, is a bit cleaner or is just a little simpler for the client. Those little differences, over the course of a project, can lead to something good becoming great, and something great becoming exemplary.
To encourage this, we established a Rewards and Recognition program to honor those in our staff who are finding those solutions. Furthermore, nominations come from peers, ensuring that we all spot and recognize those who are aiming for that elegant solution. (more…)

I have been here at Pixafy for about a year and have learned so many things on a daily basis; it’s difficult to remember what my skillset was like before I was given the opportunity to become a front-end ninja. Although I can’t make a comparison between my pre-Pixafy skills and my skills now, at least not without writing a novel, I can mention a few general practices that have become second nature to me. Q: Where are you originally from? Do you still have family there? Do you have any siblings? If so, what do they do? Any significant/insignificant others? Pets?
Rachel: I was born in Queens in St. Johns Hospital which, thanks to the recession, no longer exists. I grew up in Bushwick, Brooklyn because that was where my mother’s two sisters lived, along with my cousins. I am an only child so I never had to share my Twix bars or Reese’s. I currently live in the Bronx with my long-term boyfriend and my two pet garter snakes, Saya and Solomon. Hopefully, we’ll add to this little family soon with a dog. (more…)
