October marked my two year anniversary at Pixafy. In the past two years, we’ve gone from a small group of four to a quickly growing group of more than 20 people. Q: Where are you originally from? Do you still have family there? Do you have any siblings? If so, what do they do? Any significant/insignificant others? Pets?
Manny: I was born and raised in Brooklyn. My family came here originally from Haiti in the 1970s. I really enjoy living in New York and can’t see myself living anywhere else.
I come from a HUGE family consisting of eight boys and two girls. I’m both the second-to-last boy as well as the second-to-last child. Needless to say, while I was growing up our home was packed. We all choose different careers when we grew up. Some, like me, work in technology, some work in music, one works in psychology, and one is a teacher. (more…)

Magento is a popular and growing e-commerce solution which provides an end-to-end interface for merchants and customers alike. After a simple installation process Magento enables merchants to create their products, integrate with popular payment and shipment providers, provide coupon codes, and track reports. On the customer side customers can create accounts to track their purchases, earn rewards points, create wishlists, and invite friends to join the site. However, as simple in presentation as Magento may be, what happens behind the scenes is extremely complex in application. As difficult as it is to master the Magento codebase, it is vastly outweighed by the challenge of training developers who have never been exposed to it before. (more…)
