How Pixafy Can Help You Integrate Your Shopify Website with 3 Major ERPs

Posted by Pixafy Team

Integrating enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems with ecommerce platforms is increasingly essential as retailers face high degrees of operational complexity and rapidly escalating customer demands. With consumers expecting quick order processing, rapid fulfillment and transparency into everything from inventory levels to expected delivery dates prior to making a purchase, companies need their ERP systems to inform the shopping experience.

At Pixafy, we’ve helped a lot of companies navigate the ERP process, particularly within the Shopify ecommerce platform ecosystem, and have developed a few partnerships and capabilities that make us uniquely suited to help organizations striving for simple, cost-efficient ERP integration.

“Companies need their ERP systems to inform the shopping experience.”

We can provide integration services for a wide range of ERP setups – even custom solutions – and we offer extremely easy integration pathways for customers using some of the most common ERP solutions on the market, including:

1. NetSuite

NetSuite is one of the largest, most popular ERP systems on the market, and we have a partnership with Celigo to use the brand’s Shopify Connector for NetSuite solution to allow for streamlined integration. The connector comes with the ability to synchronize customers and orders from Shopify into NetSuite in real time. The same can be done for fulfillment and inventory levels from NetSuite into Shopify. As a result, the basic system is able to handle the primary data integration needs most ecommerce sites will have. Within this setup, organizations can establish workflows in which:

  • An order placed within the Shopify store is automatically delivered to the middleware, where it will reside until it is created in NetSuite.
  • Orders remain in the connector in the event of an error or malfunction with NetSuite, allowing for one-click retry processes to update NetSuite.
  • Any order modified in Shopify can be updated in the ERP with just a few clicks and no complex hoops to jump through.

The connector is designed for ease of use, with major field mappings between the systems already created. However, a streamlined interface allows for customization based on your specific needs, letting you build business rules into the configuration.

2. QuickBooks

QuickBooks may primarily be an accounting software solution, but the robust functionality of the system allows it to be used as an ERP for smaller organizations trying to get a clear vision for the back-office operations and data within their business. As such, integration with QuickBooks is critical in providing cost and sales transparency and allowing companies to measure revenue and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.

Pixafy has partnerships that allow for integration with two formats of QuickBooks:

QuickBooks Desktop: We work with the Unify Enterprise Edition solution by Webgility to handle QuickBooks and Shopify integration. The solution offers a variety of key functionalities that automate data transmission between Shopify and QuickBooks desktop, including:

  • Sales management tools that support multi-channel engagement.
  • Automatic sales posting to allow for accurate and tax-compliant sales reporting.
  • Dedicated order management systems that provide centralized status updates based on data from diverse sources.

The Unify Enterprise Edition solution also works with NetSuite.

QuickBooks Online: BOLD offers an Inuit QuickBooks Online connector that we often employ for clients. The solution incorporates automatically daily synchronization of orders and refunds between the ERP and the ecommerce platform, eliminating manual data entry and giving users choice as to how they want to handle historic account data. Furthermore, organizations can work with tax agencies automatically setup within the connector and synchronize Shopify Payments between the ecommerce ecosystem and the ERP. Ultimately, the solution offers flexibility through account management features that make it easier for retailers to handle sales coming from different channels or methods, such as gift cards that may require liability tracking.

3. Sage ERP

Sage is arguably one of the most powerful and prominent ERP systems to have gained popular use in the ecommerce landscape, and we use the ConnectPoint eCommerce solution to handle integration between Shopify and the ERP giant. The ConnectPoint system can serve as a common fabric between Shopify and Sage, letting organizations move data between the two systems based on their operational needs. A secure underlying platform keeps information safe during synchronization. As a Shopify Plus Partner and the relationship with our sister company Net at Work, the leading Sage Certified Partner in North America, Pixafy is uniquely suited to use the ConnectPoint eCommerce solution to integrate the two platforms.

“ERP integration can help brands unlock a new level of efficiency.”

In short, ConnectPoint eCommerce uses a three-pronged process for ERP integration. Data is gathered by the middleware, processed into actionable data sets and transmitted to the relevant location in either Shopify or Sage.

Take your ecommerce efforts to another level with ERP integration

ERP integration can help brands unlock a new level of efficiency by simplifying data transmission between their ecommerce platform and the backend systems that drive their business.
