Responsibilities

Pixafy is looking for Back End Software Engineers of all experience levels and skill-sets who share our enthusiasm for innovation and clean code! We currently utilize open source platforms such as Magento, WordPress and Drupal to successfully implement and customize sites for our clients, leveraging each platform’s robust capabilities while building upon them.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Building functional features for Magento eCommerce websites
  • Creating custom themes and plugins in Magento
  • Debugging and optimizing the performance of existing features
  • Providing input and ideas as it pertains to development and user experience problems
  • Scoping time and budget needed to complete certain projects, features and bug fixes
  • Collaborating with management and/or fellow programmers to ensure requirements are implemented correctly and efficiently

What we'd like to see

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) or equivalent work experience
  • Solid development fundamentals with a good understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Thorough experience in PHP or a proven track record of strong development in other languages with the ability to quickly learn and embrace PHP
  • Familiar with version control systems
  • In-depth understanding of LAMP web-centric user interface design (HTML, CSS)
  • Experience with developing scripts in a UNIX/Linux environment
  • Deep understanding of database technologies and proficient in MySQL
  • Strong analytical assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter, ability to work with minimal supervision and multi-task
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with web application development and service oriented architecture
  • Experience with API’s and integrating software, SOA, and integration frameworks
  • Familiarity with Magento and/or WordPress and the plethora of plugins that are available
